Fly Hard
A downloadable game for Windows
My first released project after completing Unity's Learn tutorials. Just wanted a showcase of what I'd learned up to that point, not trying to commercialize it, hope it's fun.
Some things I worked on:
- Instantiating (and destroying) objects and particle effects given certain conditions
- A spawn generator that chooses a random location from a given array
- Pause menu with music!
- The Plane twists on it's z-axis while maintaining it's position on the y-axis
- The game keeps score between scenes in the play session, maintains high score
- The Jets maintain a minimum distance between each other
- Powerup that appears on the Canvas until consumed
- Level design: assets were free but the landscape was hand crafted, including original artwork and video assets
- Converted original project from HDRP to URP (cumbersome for a rookie fixing all those pink material errors)
- Creating a title page, and managing scene flow between two scenes
- So many scripts, including player controllers, enemy controllers, spawn managers and game managers, and getting them all to play nice together
I have no tips, I'm really bad at it and I made the damn thing. The jets are faster than you in the long run, but can't turn as fast, so you have to keep moving and twisting and turning.
